My first go at this fairly faint area. Shot with the ASI1600MM-C through the TS Photoline APO 115mm reduced to f5.5. Just one hour of data at this point: 12 x 300sec. Pushed it a bit too hard and some grain is showing, obviously more data required.

Glen nice work with good structure, and a great f/5 wide field object choice....hope you get colour for It too...some nice 0III shows up:thumbsup:
You might want to look at tiding up the stars a bit in PS which show up in the full res version...or not, your choice.

I had to look this one up as I normally refer to it as the Vela Supernova Remnant but yes its Gum 12. Nice work for 1 hour. Gum 12 is not really that dim in narrowband (it is in LRGB) so it does come up pretty well in both Ha and O111 when you have enough exposure time (its quite bright in O111) and your APO is a good wide choice for this target. I did mosaic of this area a few years back with a TEC 110 F5.6 scope and it worked very well.

Most impressive. That's a spectacular result, and all in just one hour.
Hope you are at least considering some OIII later.
