I was out the front of my house tonight and found this. It's about the size of a 10c piece in diameter and appears rusty. I thought it may be a ball bearing. When it's wet it doesn't leave a rust residue or stain. it has some really small red glittery effects in it under light and some shiny dark patches. It is magnetic. It is clearly iron or metal but I'm confused. I've scratched it and nothing flakes off. I can't load the pictures but I have posted them on the Ice In Space Facebook page. Feel free to have a look and let me know your thoughts.

Hi to all, especially David Finlay who gave great info in reply on facebook.

Would anyone have recommendations for books, articles, or websites for how to tell whether something is likely to be a meteorite please, firstly at a basic level (like first 10 telltales? 3 things to do at point of discovery?), then more advanced –plus who to go to for further tests?

Congratulations, Scott, for finding something, sharing (that now helps us in learning and rekindles the hope of finding one), and investigating.

(If the same David Finlay is not a member here, would you pass on the request please.)

Many Thanks!
Team

I had trouble posting photos here so that's why I put it on Facebook. Sorry.

Thanks for the reply and thanks for dashing my hopes I'd found something from outer space. Ha ha ha ha.
