Beautifully clear last night so I had a go at IC5148, the spare tyre nebula, before it rolls away for the season. I also had some frames from the previous night.

A small planetary nebula only 2 arc minutes across in apparent size in the constellation of Grus. It's 3000 light years distant.

145 x 45 seconds or about 108 minutes of sub frames. GSO 10" F4 Newtonian, Baader MPCC MKIII, Baader nebula filter, Pentax K-5, HEQ5 Pro unguided. Pic is cropped.

Very nice, Kevin! It's only tiny, isn't it.

Thanks Rick! Yes it is tiny. Cute little thing though. I think this is the first time I've imaged it in colour.

Gorgeous. A distant galaxy in there too.

Thanks M&T. I think the galaxy is PGC597649.

Thanks Colin. I remember imaging this 20 years ago, also with a 10" and frame integration video camera. I should find the pic to compare.
