NGC 7497 peeking through the IFN (MBM 54)

It is a while since I finished an image, but I'm fairly happy with this one now. I always find dusty fields especially challenging.

That's amazing. I agree this is one of the best IFN images I've seen Dramatic stuff, it looks like that galaxy is entangled in dust. Almost like a struggle is going on.

Greeeat shot Rick, t'is a fabulous and thought provoking field this one, the galaxy really looks like it is floating in the dust, bit like the region in Apus around IC4633. The molecular cloud in this field, MBM54, is pretty close in this case so appears quite bright in this area (as far as these type of diffuse nebs go anyway), so makes for a better time with the processing I'd expect, compared to some other similar fields. As usual, you have done a great job on the processing :thumbsup: I have seriously considered hitting this field myself but it is juust a bit low from my skies, reaching only about 35deg at the meridian, so one for you foreign scope owners or those further North in Oz I decided :)

Rick, that's joyous, stunning, special. The nebulosity would be a great image on it's own. The wealth of small galaxies, most showing form and colour, would be a great photo on their own. You've got near and far together. And the central part of the nebulosity looks like a mist-fire-breathing sea-horse dragon. The stars are its hoarde of jewels.

I do agree with MnT, there are many regions in this field that could quite easily make an image of their own.

Thanks, Colin. I've seen a couple of small image scale images of NGC 7497 which came out very nicely, but as you say there are plenty of other options in that field with a long focal length!

Great art isn't so much about the subject but how the subject matter makes one feel. This photo certainly triggers the imagination with a flood of feelings. And, it keeps inviting me to look longer and longer. I don't think it gets better than this. What a great field.

This is a marvellous and fascinating image Rick! :thumbsup: :thumbsup: The stars are a little bit soft at full res but that does not detract from the impact of the image.
