I want to image Orion tonight and I don't know if the general ~35-45 degrees is the same for Orion?

I would think that would depend on how much light pollution you have on the horizon.

Personally i never image below 40 degrees, but that's just my personal preference. M42 crosses above 40 degrees around 11:30pm tonight at my location.

With wide field it doesn't matter as much in my opinion as the image scale covers up a lot of the issues. I finished processing a mosaic last night that is between 30-35° and it turned out well enough.

Of course the higher up the better, but at the same time any data is better than no data at all! :lol: At least you get out of the house and do the astro thing. I personally will image as soon as the target is in the view, and after many nights I can start selecting usable subs.

Like Glen, I usually start imaging at 40 degrees. Unless it's a comet.
