Hi everyone
I upgraded to Windows 10 and since doing so I have not been to connect to the robofocus. Everything was working fine before on Windows 7.
Initially it was a driver for the prolific serial to usb that the problem.
I installed win 7 drivers that seemed to get the com port back up and operational.
However now when I try to connect I get error number 8020 when connecting through robofocus software.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue? Would really appreciate it.
Thanks.
John.

Are you sure you have a 'genuine' Prolific chip in your adapter? I heard that Prolific themselves altered their driver(s) to test for genuine chips to try and defeat the flood of Asian manufactured copies. If I get time (I've got to mow my paddock!), I will try my Robofocus on my Win 10 system and let you know.

Check that you have the permissions set to allow unsigned drivers to be installed. I recently had a problem with installing my USB_Focus system and had to defeat the WIN blocking of the unsigned driver.

Sorry John, I must have given my Prolific adapter away since I never use it. I use the FTDI adapter for my setup. # 760-8711 ~$AU24 from RS-Components (in Aus) and free delivery. With the FTDI adapter and drivers, I just tested RoboFocus with Windows 10 and it worked perfectly.

Glend the drivers do install and when i install win 7 drivers it seems to be functional but RF comes up with the error message mentioned.
Charles you might be right in that this adapter along with 4 others i have may be fake rip offs.
I have ordered 3 new serial to USB adapters from 3 different manufacturers.
they should hopefully arrive today or tomorrow.
Hopefully one of them will work.
regards
John

Problem solved.
The 3 new serial to usb adapters arrived today.
2 were recognised as prolific and the third as Ser.
All drivers were successfully installed and robofocus worked perfectly fine on all of,them.
It seems that prolific no longer support their old chip with Windows 10.
And all 3 previous cables I had had the old version of their chip.
Thank you both Charles and Glen for your input.
John.
