I've just purchased a book called "Astronomy Hacks - Tips & Tools for Observing the Night Sky" by Robert and Barbara Thompson. I've only looked through it briefly so far but it looks like a great resource for the beginning amateur like me.
It goes into some detail on the basics and has a lot more little tidbits of information that look quite helpful. Once I've gone through it in more detail I might write a review if that's of interest to anyone.
Anyone else have/read this one?

I don't have the book, but several months ago there was a review of this book in the US Sky & Telescope and it got a good review! Apparently it has some good hits & tips even for the more advanced telescope owners.

I'd never seen it before, in either astronomy or other book stores. Reading through it last night it certainly is helpful. It seems to have something for everyone from the real beginner (i.e. before first bino purchase) to the seasoned "expert." Being more at the beginner end it is great for me.

Sounds like an excellent book, can either of you let us know where you purchased it, and roughly what its price is?

Thanks!

Hi Travis

I have this book too and like it a lot. It is straight down to earth and written by people who have lots of experience and want to share it. The writers are big dob fans but there is heaps of info to help any amateur no matter the scope. I got my copy from Boffins in Hay Street, Perth city, $49.95.

Same price, Collins Booksellers at Karrinyup in Perth. So far I'm really impressed with the book too....especially being a Dob owner.
