not particularly thrilled with this one but i thought i would post it anyway. NGC1365 along with the sombrero galaxy are, in my opinion, the two most beautiful galaxies. i will have another go next year when i have sorted out some issues i am currently having.

It looks so much like NGc 1097 that I struggleto tell the difference between them from memory.

Nicely captured though, nicely resolved :)

really ? i always find it quite a recognisable galaxy. 1097 is good too though, lovely core . might have a go at that one soon. my other project in the works might take over though, might spill over into a multi year project

Not a deep image but the detail and colour are nice, Aidan.

Thanks Rick,

that is an artefact of my seeing conditions. i actually took a lot of data for this but i had to chuck a whole lot out because it was simply not good enough. also mount screw ups in the middle of the night reduced the number of images. anyway, i think i am convinced now that i will move my scope, the darker skies don't compensate for the horrible seeing conditions.

a very tidy image with good detail and colour. FWIW, Seeing has been very variable down this way as well.

That's very nice Aidan!glad you've got something decent to show considering all the stress with the mount.

Forgot to pass comment on this one Aidan, you may have been after a grander and perhaps a deeper result but it's a very solid image of 1365 and with believable colours. You will produce a purler next season I have no doubt

A very nice image Aidan and you can always add more data to it. We all keep our fingers crossed for a quick and successful worm block surgery on your mount

Thanks guys, I love this galaxy and just want to do it justice. But regardless if you are taking apod images of just starting out imaging m42, I will never get over the kick of collecting photons from these incredible objects.

 I don't have either at the moment but hopefully that changes on both accounts soon

i have to say that i am lucky enough to have my own observatory, a awesome telescope, great imaging gear and a top of the line mount. while issues can be frustrating i do try to keep things in perspective :)
