Ngc 1949

I would reckon that something like 80-90% of the narrow angle images of the LMC are of the Tarantula region but there is a lot of other stuff worth imaging. This is NGC 1949, a pretty little colorful nebulous area that I've never imaged before and in fact did not even know existed. The data was a mixture of good and bad with seeing varying from good to poor. I also have a problem with the LMC in that for part of the night it hides behind a tree. Time to call in the tree surgeon I think.

Nicely done, Steve. Thanks for explaining that the blue stripy bit is a Wolf-Rayet nebula. We're partial to them.

That's a pretty good result, and there is some nice detail in there. Colours look good too.

That's a wee little ripper Steve, nice contrast between the Wolf neb and the HII, the teal blue looks lovely. The LMC is full of amazing little nebulous groupings like this, I'm working on one less imaged myself, need perhaps one more night of data though..? Had a bit of a run of useable nights recently but now that blasted annoying high cloud has shown it's ugly face and just as the Moon is getting brighter too :rolleyes:

Very nice Steve, there certainly are some nice areas in the LMC. Nice detail and contrast! I've actually started on the neighbour of NGC 1949, NGC 2020, but with Melbournes near perpetual cloud.... It just isn't going anywhere :/
