I'm after reasonable viewing areas in Sydney (+/- 20km from RYDE). I know it will not be dark skies but I normally go down to my local cricket pitch and set up on one end of the pitch. But there are a significant amount of street lights to make viewing and photography not worth the effort anymore.

If you know of a good field that is not affected too much by street lights and has a good view of the sky, please write the location or google map location. Please don't say blue mountains... that is not an option.

Try the NSAS site at Terrey Hills and if you like it join them. IMHO that site is the best I've seen in Sydney in a very long time, to do better you have to drive much further west.

See their website for details.

Thanks so much the replies. I think I will try the NSAS one this month since it is quite close to me. The MAS one also looks awesome.
