On Oct 30th 2016, using its Mastcam, Curiosity captured this image of a
smooth, golf-balled sized rock -

The array of brighter points visible on the rock resulted from laser zapping
by Curiosity's Chemistry and Camera (ChemCam) instrument.

It has confirmed that it is an iron-nickel meteorite.

History will have us believe Alexander's army wimped out at the Indus
River, in what is now Pakistan, before making an ill-fated march back
through the Makran desert.
