Hey :)

I would very much like to see an image of NGC253 with the bottom half of the picture in b/w up to an exact diagonal cut along the axis of the galaxy -
and the top of the picture, including the top half of the galaxy, in color.

I imagine that could be done with 2 layers in Photoshop?
1 b/w and the 2nd in color.
And then just cut away the colour along the axis?

Would anyone care to molest his imaging work like this, please?

Very much obliged, gents & ladies :thanx:
Annette

But his work is copyright so you'd need his permission.

oh, wrong pronoun. Thanks for bringing it up.

"Would anyone care to molest their (own)imaging work like this, please?"

That's what I meant to say :)

Do you mean luminance compared to RGB?

uhm... could be... if I understood what that really means...

I took this creative commons version
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sculptor_Galaxy#/media/File:NGC253.jpg

and lasso-split it in Gimp, then reduced saturation.

I suppose, doing something like this with the original black and white image layered by the true image result of added RGB would show more contrast and details and would be more impressive then this?
Because it wouldn't take away anything like my Wiki-CC-edit - but use all the data that is in the original 2 images.
?

But at least I already see the advantage in doing what I proposed.
The intrinsic structures in the b/w part of the image really stand out - while the colored part suggests what the other would look like, as well.
