This is a region within the Small Magellanic Cloud, I found it personally to be quite an interesting patch of sky. It doesn't quite have the same punch as Mike and Trish's recent version, their FWHM seems much nicer :P

Pre-processing was done in PI, post processing done in Goodlook 64 and gradient removal done in PI. Very little processing as actually been done, no noise reduction, light deconvolution (pretty poor seeing) and just playing with levels and curves.

Mapped as a bi-colour.
Ha - Red/Green (33x600s)
OIII Green/Blue (35x600s)

There is a significant amount of random faint Ha within the area. Also many regions which have strong Ha but almost no OIII and visa versa.

I like the way the palette has worked in this one Colin. The composition is pleasing too.
Nicely done.

At first I was considering centering the main region to get more of what's on the top right but was curious as to what would show itself down the bottom left so I kept going with it. I'll have to upload the Ha as it shows what's in there better.

Thanks Steve, not quite as obscure as your targets :p

Thanks Trev, I do find selecting a palette a bit more difficult in bi colour.

Thanks Greg :)

The wider field works well, Colin! You've shown a giant arc running like a < or ( sign round the whole thing left of centre, that wasn't obvious in our image. There are some pretty clusters out in the suburbs.

Nice one, Colin! The SMC is just chokkers with cool stuff.

I still prefer your effort

I took a shot of the whole SMC with my D700 last night so it'll hopefully show up some of those pockets around. Has shocking Ha sensitivity but the OIII should show up nice enough.

See my last reply on your other pic Colin, ditto! Yes its a great area to explore between major new targets rising

It is a quite interesting region, at least there isn't too much of a dynamic range to deal with as most of it is pretty dim.

I still prefer the version presented by Mike and Trish, theirs shows the region, albeit smaller, in a lot more detail.
