Well I dont know that Lee Andrews is a doctor but he cured my "wanties" .
Well a day of confusion but all is well that ends well. I set out to buy an eq6 and a pair of 20 x 80 binos:) :) .
As you all know my loyalty is with Bintel as when I bought my 12inch from them Mrs. Smith would not let me take it home on the train an insisted on driving me home to my father’s home in Cheltenham which I thought was just the pinnacle of service.
My Son needed me to work on a particular matter that frankly I was best suited to do. I asked him to organize the details I showed him the pages in the Sky and Space setting out the names of Bintel and Andrews’s communications.
I asked him to call Bintel and tell Mr. Smith I would take the mount and don’t worry about the dimensions. I had rung Mr. Smith to get an idea of the size of the boxes so I could work out if I could manage it on the train..well as my Son offered me his campervan to take the mount home I was not worried about how big it was anymore..
And further that he ring Andrews Communications to organize the binos (20 x 80 triplet) to be postd here.
After I had finished my task (and that’s another story) I asked him how everything went he said fine they are going to drop the mount in for you and the binos are in the mail.
So I thought... that lovely Mrs Smith how nice she remembered me and I will see her again.
So I was out the front playing with my camera taking some shots to post showing you all the bush setting here. A man came into the frame just as I took a shot of the steep drive.
It was Lee Andrews ??? whats he doing here???
My Son had ordered the mount from Andrews Communications and Mr Lee Andrews was here to deliver it in person. Wow:eyepop: . I always held the view that Andrews Communications was a mail order place. I have purchased stuff from them and always liked their prompt service in getting stuff to me at Tabulam.
I walked down the drive and helped Lee carry up two boxes containing the EQ6 into the house:D .
Well it seems I have regarded Andrews Communications unfairly. This is unbelievable service as it mustta been around 7-00pm:eyepop: .
My Son organized it very well and managed to get the binos to be sent in the mail. When Lee realized that there was more to the order he was confused as well but we looked at the sky and agree that I would be waiting until the weekend for it to clear anyways. He would make sure when he got into the office that they would be here by Friday.
Lee is a very nice man and was very interesting to talk to mainly about the 16 inch coming soon. He has seen it in the flesh as they say and is very impressed with its solidness and overall appeal. Can’t wait until they are here they sound terrific.
I hope all at Bintel understand:shrug: .
Thanks also to my Son for all your help and without the confusion I never would have realized that Andrews Communication was anymore than a mail order organization. I hope I have not changed Lee’s career into that of a courier now that you know this story.
Can not wait to help him up the drive with the 16 inch however:lol:   .
I post a photo of a very nice man slipping into my field of view and a very nice mount set up in my lounge room..more about the mount later it is a magnificent thing to behold:thumbsup: .
What a day...AND I met a lady lawyer who leaves everyone for dead in that profession:) .

I find that if you treat people with respect you tend to get it back. I guess my Son spoke nicely.
alex
Alex i treated him with the greatest, respect, it was he and his staff that abused me. and i will never trade with that establisment again, they are just totally rude people.
xelasnave
15-11-2006, 11:05 PM
I cant argue with that I dont know the facts.
I cant think why they should be rude to a customer it does not makes sence to rub people up the wrong way.
Still I take people the way I find them and he seemed a very reasonable man.
I am not fooled easily with a background such as I have I think I am a fair judge of character and people generally maybe it was just one of those days.
The good thing is you can vote with your feet as they say and you have no doubt. I cant preach to you along the lines that if you cant say something good about someone then say nothing as I would be the first to get up someone and tell them straight to their face what I though so as I said I doont know the facts other than the ones before me. I am sorry you did not get the wonderful service that I did cause it was excellent I thought.
I will let you know if I run into anything dont worry about that.
alex
Hi Alex
I believe if you have something to say, be game enough to put your name to it.
I did, they stuffed up, I replied in a very nice way, because people can make mistakes.
I rang them, and spoke to them about the problem, they were exceptionally rude and basically told me i was and old idiot who really didn't know what i was doing.
I wore that, so i wrote to them, in a nice manner, they sent my letter back with the letter corrected, and comma's, and full stops in the right places.
These people and there staff are .....................end of story
So Alex, They were very wrong.
Cheers leon

Thanks for filling me in Leon I will keep my eyes open there is no excuse for rudeness it is an old saying overlooked these days.
The customer is always right
Staff can errode a businesses good will with silly actions such as you describe.
But its their loss they wont get your custom and that hits where it hurts most.
Thank you for taking the time to let me know of your experience.
I am sorry to open old wounds for you but as you can appreciate I am one very happy fella as no doubt anyone would be given my happy experience today not withstanding the dam cloud cover ... will I ever get to use my new gear I am a wondering.
Clear skies and best wishes

Luck of the draw. Number of people have said similar things to say about Bintel Sydney, re a rude person answering the phone.
I don't like dealers full stop. :P I just want everything to fall in my lap when I want it without having to go through dealers and especially without having to open my wallet. Is that too much to ask in our world of freedom, democracy, and so forth?

Hi Alex,
Your new mount looks great,
and like you I have allways found Lee,HIMSELF,to be very helpful,
I once ordered a pair of Saxon 15x70 binoculars off him,and very quickly they arrived,Unfortunately they were 11x70,s,in a 15x70,s box.
Again Lee,organised a very quick replacement, saying, send the 11's back when the correct ones arrive,I thought that was a very trusting attitude, and STILL,respect him for his trust,in me.
Unfortunately, the 15x70's,were waaay out of collimation when they arrived,so I sent them back, and kept the 11x's,I just could not be bothered with all the explainations again.
I have dealt since with Lee,buying an ED 80,and its great,
But I have to say,Talking with some of his staff, leaves me,Less than Impressed.
If you can talk to Lee,Himself.Fine,
I now only deal with A.O.E
I find their help, and service Brilliant.

Nice mount, Alex! How much did it set you back? I'm in the market for an EQ6 or two myself.

Thanks for all of that:) .
I have run a legal office and a real estate office and things happen.
You have people who love you and those who hate you. I have slipped up on service and how it happens it is hard to say. I never ever took anyone down but I have made mistakes.. admitting them and moving on is the only policy. I have refunded deposits from my own pocket cause people alegded I had got them excited and hard sold them... I did not have to do that no one does that but I bet when they tell the story they left that part out and said what a terrible person I was.. I undersatnd that it never worried me I did those things for my feeling of myself not pressure from them.
But I think there are only two contenders for the top service award and you all can guess who they are in my book.
My Son's office for example are real tryers but they do things that need revision..which is something I am taking care of as I am now removed enough from the action to see things from the clients view point..and its the little things listing them shows me that so small but we can improve ..they result from not getting into the clients reality and dealing with their world not your own.
I am embarrassed to admit I paid full price Mike..$2199-00 I think Bintel was higher but I was not going to beat them down because of the previous service. The binos again full price $199.
But the cost to me was two months in the bush living on boiled rice, baked beans and dry cheese to save the cash.
Mike I doubt if Lee could deliver a mount to you at Gosford but I could probably get my Son to drop it off for you ..His office is at Beecroft but he now lives at Avoca that could help with freight cause they must cost heaps to transport given their weight.
Looking this thing over it is better than I imagined the RA turns like a the wheel on a push bike.and it is so solid I dont think I will worry about pier mounting it. It looks like a Tacky Jap mount..when I paint the black AR white no one will know the difference.
best wishes to all and peace to all men and ladies and all living things
I love the whole world and my mount:D
alex
LOL at alex and leon...
look, if you find a business of any type that doesnt have bad days then i bet they are pretty darn rich... i doubt you will find any tho :)
absolutely every business has it ups and downs. its just a fact of life.
some might wax lyrical about bintel, but i have had problems there (not that i have held it against them mind you). if you are that interested in my bintel problem PM me.... I havent had any problems with andrews however. i ordered a heq5 from them, the payment should go in today. lee is going to personally deliver it to me when that payment goes thru.
thanks for the pic alex. i know what to look for when he gets to my place now ;)

Well could you explain what I am missing?????
alex
Alex the comments Houghy made were referring to the cold unseasonal weather we've had today.
Mike was referring to two mounts because Houghy has two EQ6 mounts.
And Houghy was referring to an incident that took place between Dennis and an EQ6 mount.
No comments were intentionally directed towards you personally.
Hope all this explains the comments.

Hi All,
Some pretty fair comments in this thread,
And as human beings,we WILL make mistakes,Dealers,or not.
I certainly have made my share.
I think the main thing is,if you can recognise, your error, and try to ensure, you dont do it again, you are a good human being.
Alex,as I see it, Basically said,we all make mistakes, most of it Not intentional, and quite often Unfortunately, we are judged on one bad call,
Also, there is two sides to every story,
Again, Unfortunately, there is often, only one side told,or taken heed of.
ALEX,
If I was in need of a property, or Legal advice,I would ask help, from you, ANYTIME.

Funny I had the same experience with Bintel, some grumpy old woman on
the phone. Where as Lee I have never had a problem always fast service.
Different people have different experiences. I personally dont treat people
with dis-respect especially when your spending hundreds of dollars looking
for the best price the vender might give you. However when I am spending
hundreds of dollars, I would like a lil respect back.
Rob
Andrews and Bintel both on occasion have a grumpy old woman on the phone.... maybe she's for hire?? Like a franchise - rent-a-grump??? :D
well my heq5 arrived last night... its bigger than i expected! glad i dint go for the eq6, i probably would be able to lift it :P
i'll post some pics on monday probably :)

:hi: What a day so far.
Thanks John for your encouraging words and everyones input that is what free speech is all about:) .
However it worries me some of the references to some of the vendors we deal with:sadeyes: .
I have just come from another forum where unfortunately there is a clash between two members in which they get into this name calling game. I want them to stop it so I sought to remind them of the possible consequences of name calling in the public view.
Given the references above I post a copy of my post in that forum which I hope will cause us all to think of the dramatic consequences a passing comment can initiate:thumbsup: .
Defamation is a dangerous area, apart from the hurt caused it lets the lawyers in the door who ask for the keys to your safe.
The aspect of hurt does not have to be true or faulse for the action to be brought nor does intention figure much in the consideration however the aspect of publication is relevant. One can say somethings and get away with them others provide the plaintiff with a hand better than a royal flush ace high in poker.
Trying to hide your comment in a joke or in your end doe:whistle: provides no defence to the action:eyepop: . The only difficulty the lawyer for the plaintiff (if he needs a lawyer and cant act on his own behalf as I can if faced with bringing such an action) is how much to claim in damages:shrug: . For the lawyer for the defendant his problem is to convince the plaintiffs lawyer to settle early so as to minimise costs for the defendants (usually defendants in the sence that there will be more than one as the suit is brought against the person making the statement and the organisation who published the statement). Why am I covering this in such detail you ask well it happens to be the area that I am expert in and I could not help but sprout what I know about the matter:lol:   .
My advice to folk generally is to avoid making attacks which could in a moment of carelessness could cost them their house and therefore do not be so clever that you end up being very stupid:scared: .
Thats what I think about Orion.
Now the good news the Binos are here:D :D :D .
I am high as a kite as I thought that perhaps after the negative comments Lees promise that they would be here Friday might be only a snow job and that I may have to wait longer for satisfaction..
But they are great but the image is not what I expected..the view is the right way up..I thought these were astronomy "üpside down view" binos yet not so the view is "normal" so such a result is great:) .
So get ready for grey skies and some stormy weather I have everything I need to bring the heavens down upon us:lol:   .
So only one thing more on the wish list..the 80mm triplet Williams scope I wish I wish I wish
That should do it I wonder when it will arrive?
alex
thats easy fixed alex! just hold the binos upside down!:screwy:

One of the joys of being married...I hope that you were more successful at slipping in some additional "key phrases" into the wedding vows than I was...for example...In sickness and in health for richer or poorer or owning a new telescope mount...you get the idea.
As for me I just wanted the ultra tradional "obey" thrown in there...it did not make the final script...oh well
I hope you both enjoy your new toys!

Thank you Leon, the binos are great worked perfect:thumbsup: got outside with them and before my neck got stiff the clouds rolled in... so is that not a good sign, they must be good:lol:   .
Of course now I need a sky hook to hang them from mmm and maybe a deck chair and a little table along side ;)
And that lady solicitor I mentioned wow is she great on the sevice ..only took her 2 minutes to work out her costs for me $25,000:scared: but the plumber took twice as long to figure a bill for $5000 it will be interesting to see how they each go on the job:shrug: .

I've only had good experiences at Andrews. I keep trying to like another, more local shop but that's just not working out. I continue to be amazed that some places don't understand the importance of good customer service.
