Here is just one of those mindblowing images rom a telescope other than Hubble. I know what it is but can you guess. Its 180kb so I hope its not too big. The original is 6.5mb and looks fantastic.

Heres that orion thingo everyones keen on. Looks like a lady sitting down on the LHS to mewith her legs out and her arms up, wearing a loose dress.

They ae both from the amazing and often forgotten Spitzer telescope.

The beauty of these various objects is breathtaking.
I am giving a little talk to some school children next week, I had decided not to confuse them with going past the solar system but being reminded of the images available that idea has gone out the door.

I agree, the ability for computers and instruments and science in gerneral to capture these things for us to see in a form that we can relate to is a wonderful thing.

Its equally amazing to me that people can read graphs and dots and dashes and stuff and create these images in their minds.

These images help keep the dream alive.

simply stunning images, I dont seem to hear as much about spitzer but it's definitely up there and producing the goods.

There is plenty of stuff coming from Spitzer, just go to the web site and subscribe and you will be kept upto date.

Hi Astroron, just finished subscribing, what a great site, some of those images are truely breathtaking. I cant believe I haven't found it earlier as I subscribe to other similar sites by NASA.

I can see another lady sitting down!!!!

She is only small and she is sitting side-on down the bottom left, and she has long dark brown or black hair!
