Moon Globe from 1968

Growing up in the Apollo age, I fell in love with all things space so my grandparents bought me this 3D moon globe for $25 in 1970 and I was 9, which was huge money back then! It is still my pride and joy, 46 years later! It is molded plastic with an acrylic stand, and came with a book and lunar map which I still have.

The moon chart is starting to be a little worse for wear, but the booklet is still fine and the actual globe has remained pristine! Still glows in the dark too!

on first glance i thought the photo was a globe of mars. does it have that orange cast on person or is it the lighting/white balance. has the lastic stood up to time? has it cracked or anything? i worry about my cardboard one surviving time.

In the dark, it actually glows with a soft blue luminescence.

Probably just the pictures I took; the seas are actually a sort of cream colour and the rest is grey. I only photographed this the other day, just with a black cloth behind and a little black lid to sit it on.
It certainly has stood the test of time and has not cracked or anything.

The company was called Educational Frontiers and it dates back to 1968. That's really all I have now, I think the box got chucked out over 40 years ago... :)

It was originally priced on the box as $125, marked down to $25 in 1970. They bought it at Waltons in Bankstown (who is old enough to remember them?!)
