I don't know how to put this, but due to some emergency issues regarding health in the family some funds are quickly needed. :(
As such I am left with no option but to sell my ETX which I only just purchased 3 weeks ago from Sirius Optics in Brisbane. Note that the scope is second hand - I believe it is around 18 months old.
From the time I have spent with it, the scope is in excellent condition. It has the UHTC coatings.
It comes with the following:
Electric focuser
26mm, two 15mm and a 9mm lens. The 9mm lens is a wider scope lens and is brand new (it cost about $150 from memory)
Two dew shields
Tripod (obviously)
Hard carry case for the scope and other optics and a bag for the tripod
A electric 12V adaper and extension plug so you can power from an AC plug or car (DC)
The manuals and Mike's book on the ETX125 (I have forgotten the title)
I will pay for postage etc.
This needs to be sold quickly. I am looking at around $1400-$1500. If this is too high let me know. I recently purchased the whole lot for $2000.
Any questions feel free to ask and I will see if I can reply.

Is it the Classic or Premier Edition?

Oh sorry - it is the ETX125EC
It isn't the top one - the PE with the LNT thingy.
Mine does come with a laser viewfinder and a normal viewfinder.
The one I have you have to do the north setup for Alt/AZ i.e. turn it counterclockerwise after levelling it etc.

Also add it has the 497 controller. A member asked as the thread didn't specify.

Chris please don't let your ETX go unless you absolutely have no other option! I've sent you a pm, I'm hoping it may make it unnecessary to sell your ETX, or if nothing else perhaps buy you some more time.
Folks please allow Chris time to read my message, if he still needs to sell the ETX I'm sure he will indicate so here. BTW I am NOT trying to get in his ear first and take advantage of this situation, just in case anyone assumes the worst. I am trying to help out a great guy during a time of adversity in his family, a guy who was trusting and more than fair to me when he didn't know me from a bar of soap.
I personally owe Chris $500 (call it interest Chris) and if any other member here is in a situation to send that money to Chris immediately (and buy my debt as it were, and my gratitude) I guarantee that I will pay it back to that person as soon as I can. Pm me if you are willing to help me help Chris this way.

It looks like Arthur and I have made an arrangement to help Chris out a bit, I just hope it's enough.
I'm sure Chris will let us know if the ETX is still for sale or not.
Do whatever you need to do Chris.
Best wishes...

Thanks for the support but the medical fees for hospital are very high.
I am having to sell other items elsewhere e.g. Ebay etc. Sofar have about 40% covered.
Again thanks for the support, but at this stage the ETX has to go.
Chris
maybe someone needs an ETX on a tempory basis and can sell it back back to chris when everything works out.........

Surely someone could use a nice ETX-125 package for a Christmas present to themselves? Chris has said it will have to go anyway at this stage so please if you're interested let him know!
The only thing worse that someone having to sell a scope, is someone having to sell a scope and no one buying it!

This is still for sale - a local astronomer is interested and am waiting to hear from him, but if anyone else is interested let me know.

Chris

Just to let everone know the scope has been sent to Jim to have a look at.
Given the Christmas rush he hopefully will get it by Friday, but maybe not until next week, so I will not know he wishes to purchase it until then.

Does this package sound familiar to anyone??
Meade ETX-125 package for sale on ebay - Item number: 110073414321 (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110073414321#description)
quote from seller jimbooo24 (http://myworld.ebay.com.au/jimbooo24/) : "A great scope, a regrettable sale. Moving house, and I need to fund the move. Hopefully I'll get one again in a few years "
???
Chris you have received payment for this haven't you?

Hi,
Not really knowing the person "Jimbrooo" but it smells fishy to me,does any other member know him? I'd hate to think that one member would do this to another.

It was actually another sharp eyed member that saw this ebay listing and pm'ed me about it .... I haven't mentioned who it is that found it in case there is any flak over the whole deal but all due credit to them for being alert. I've got broad shoulders and I'm not afraid to stir the pot and see what rises (to use a mixed metaphor) and would hate to see anything else negative happen to Chris. It all seems very "strange" to me I must admit at present.
Chris if you happen to read this (and I know you have other things on your mind so I'll apologise in advance if I'm intruding) let us know that everything is ok.
Of course Jimboooo if there's any facts that we aren't aware of it may not hurt to mention them. Again I'll apologise in advance if things are NOT what they seem, but at present it looks very much like a case of someone selling an item on ebay which they technically do not own (yet perhaps) .... that's not only a big no-no on ebay, but possibly a bit of an issue legally I suspect.

Hi,
I had a friend who is registered on ebay to ask a question on my behalf regarding the sale, the question was "Is this the same scope that is for sale on the IIS group" answer came back "NO and what's IIS" he then asked another question. "There is a chap in IIS named "Jambroooo" who bought a scope like this,is there any chance of viewing the scope before bidding and if so where do you live. Thanks He is waiting on a reply I'll let you know the answer when and if he does answer that one :) Of course it could be a different Jimboooo
also the one on ebay besides having 24 after the name also only has 3 o as well, but it could be all cleared up very quickly if "Jimbroooo" was to reply to the thread ;)

I payed for the scope on Saturday. It is another Jim
he lives in another suburb (have contacted him about his scope). I would'nt give my home address, work address and mobile number to someone if I was to shaft them.
What a conspiracy! Im happy with the scope and used it last night.
Cheers all.

Weird coincidence, but, James is the most popular name used to name people (according to this baby naming book I have!)
Might have been good if this was conducted via PM until everything was cleared up?
Even with the best of intentions... these things should be carried out discreetly before sounding an alarm.
I saw the term "legal" thrown in earlier in this thread.
That goes both way, lads and ladettes.
Remember, in our system... an individual is assumed innocent until proven guilty:)
Just something to keep in mind before we start putting 2 and 2s together.

Im an honest person, and I appreciate Chris' trust and honesty as well, especially under the circumstances he is in at the moment. I personally guarantee that I have paid for the scope. I paid for it saturday, the funds should come through on Tuesday. (generally takes up to 48hrs)
Very true Harb
And I also agree that we have to keep an eye out for each other when it comes to scams, rip-offs etc etc and tip each other off to unscrupulous behaviour.
We just need to be careful how we go about it and don't jump the gun.
Reputations and people's otherwise good names are at stake.
Sorry to hear of your misfortunes.
Glad you're enjoying the scope Jimboooo... and where are you getting clear skies from?!?!

This has been a very hot thread, so I just thought I'd provide an update to give closure.
Chris (chrissara) has received the payment from Jimboooo, so from that respect, the issue is closed.
However there's no doubt in my mind (or of most people here) that Jimboooo on IIS and the Jimbo listing the ETX on ebay IS the same person, and it IS the same scope. That's where the dishonesty comes into it.
Jimbo lied to people here, lied to people on ebay, and actually listed the scope for sale on ebay (with the intention of making a profit) BEFORE he'd paid Chris!
Chris has been paid, which is the end result we wanted - but I'd warn people to be careful dealing with Jimboooo in future sales, and in general, make sure you receive payment BEFORE sending the item unless you know and trust who you're dealing with.
