Managed to eek out some dust lane detail in this image I took over two nights. I took the luminance with a mono QHY9 CCD, then spent the second night capturing colour with the QHY12 CCD. It's a pretty quick and dirty method but has been working well so far.
Celestron 9.25" Edge HD, Lepus 6.3 Reducer, QHY9/12. Processing in Photoshop and PixInsight

Some nice detail in there Dylan, imagine it's better at high res :P

Thanks Colin :) It's a bit rough at higher res. More Lum data and better collimation and careful processing needed!

I think its a great image Dylan looks very deep to me and a lot better than my attempts well done
cheers Pete :eyepop:
Nice work Dylan. Seems to have lost much of the blue and red colour in the galaxy and stars, but wonderful detail starting to become visible. Are you going to keep shooting if weather allows?

Thanks guys! Yes I hope to shoot this some more tonight and I'm not happy with the star blooming from the QHY9M luminance data so more data required!

Thanks for the feedback all. I shot some more L data tonight, corrected the colour balance and softened the stars that had been clipped. Now I just need to add some Ha to get those "red jewels" in the lanes. Just waiting on Astronomik to ship the 6nm's again so I can get started! (My other Ha is hyperstar tuned and sized so not usable for this new image train C9.25" Edge HD -> 6.3 reducer -> QHY9M CCD)
