Hello Alan :)

I guess the beauty of astronomy is that you don't need to be anywhere near a computer to enjoy it.

However, I'd say that goto scopes and computer planetariums such as Synscan systems, Cartes du Ciel, Stellarium and the like are very simple to use indeed. Also, this is a wonderful forum for advice and guidance in all matters astronomical.

Happy posting Alan!

What kind of telescopes do you have?

Are you fond of any particular parts of the sky or any particular targets?

Do you observe at home or do you have to travel to a location to observe?

Great to see you on the forum Alan, and getting into computers.

If I had to guess, I would guess that Alan is a beginner on computers but not in astronomy and has a C14 on a beautiful wheeled trolley mount and a few Dobsonians.
I have his old mirror in my "Guinevere" 18" F5.6 Dob.
Alan has been in the hobby for decades as his Astro Optical Dob will attest.
How am doing so far Alan?

I will try to catch up when I go to Taree next year to have the mirror re-coated.

Cheers,
Matt
