Excellent Mick!

Lots of people would drool to have one of those as a pier, and you just whack one together to bring to an Astro camp!!!! :eyepop:

Looks good.

Be interesting to know a price on the unit, minus the four legs.

I'm amazed how some people can just whip up something like this. It'd take me weeks of planning just to get it built by an engineer. If I tried it myself every angle and length would be out by at least 10%.

It looks 100% professional.

OK I will ask the dumb questions:screwy: , so how do you level the pier on site:shrug: (excluding some level adjustment with the mounting plate bolts, they cant take all the adjustments. Also those very sharp steel corners look like shin and toe removers to me:scared: , should you round them off to help dull the effect ( or would a few ports help;) ).

you may need some threaded rod or bolts on the leg extensions to allow for levelling:D , only a suggestion I take it you would have time this week to add that? Oh and where is the coffee cup holder:P , portable heater, radio/cd player and inbuilt strobing light?

the pier was made primarily for snake valley so flat ground won't be a problem, bolt on adjusters will be added later but time is a premium at the moment, heaps of work to get through before l go anywhere. the sharp edges will have rubber caps fitted soon, it's pointless trying to round of edges on steel that thick it's still going to hurt.

If you need something like a pier done I know an engineer up in the hills (Walliston) that will do jobs like that - he's done 2 for me no problems. Usually takes 2-4 weeks including galvanising. He's done lots of stuff for my family's businesses over the last 25 years.

 Thanks Roger, I ended up getting the larger LX tripod but still have a dream for a permanent pier or at least a pier on wheels I will definitely keep that in mind, cheers
