Another northern object captured at SRO in California. NGC7129 is a bubble-shaped reflection nebula illuminated by a cluster of young stars. Not quite up to the standard of the recent APOD using Subaru data but we have a much bigger FOV :D
Captured at SRO, Jun - Aug, 2016
Scope: Ceravolo C300 @ f/4.9 = 1470mm FL
Mount: AP1100
Camera: FLI PL16803
Focuser: Atlas
Filters: Astrodon
Guiding: Lodestar II / Tak guide scope
Image scale: 1.26 arcsec/pixel (Drizzled to double res)
Exposures: 53x600s L, 25x1200s R, 26x1200s G, 27x1200s B, 32x1800s Ha (50.8 hours)
Processing: PixInsight 1.8

Constructive criticism is welcomed

Seriously is a lot going on in that field Rick, nicely done! It must be nice getting 30+ hour data sets coming out of SRO.
There is a fair bit of detail showing up at the core of the nebulous region, surprised you're not surpassing detail taken by Subaru ;)

A fabulous image Rick and your usual superb processing.

Thanks, Colin. You'd think that having all that data would make these images easy to process but I actually find it harder. My expectations increase faster than the SNR :)
Thanks, Greg.

Lovely Rick. Does it have a blue/purple cast or is it just me? Give it another whirl just to see. I agree re. The challenges of good data, when I used to process the DSW data I often thought "where do I start?!'

I would suspect as that as the SNR increases there is more and more than you want to try to pull out of the image so it then becomes taming the exceedingly dim stuff against the brighter stuff.
If you have limited data you process very lightly and its all over in 15 minutes :)

Beautiful Image Rick!

Thanks, Simmo. You are right. There's a tinge too much magenta from the Ha combine. I've tweaked the Astrobin version very slightly.
If you push hard enough there's always noise in the dark depths, Colin.
Thank you, Tim.

The full frame view of this looks fantastic Rick!
I Love the colours and the overall processing here. 50hrs of good data from a good site is something else.....! Congrats on a great result.

That's certainly a beautiful field Rick, lovely balanced colours throughout and the stars look nice and sparkly bright. A very enjoyable image well worth the effort

Outstanding image Rick, really beautiful to look at. My partner loves it too, so I tried to sell the idea that I need a better mount

Thanks, Maurice.
Ta, Mike. I tried not to soften the stars too much this time!
Thanks, Suavi. Start with the mount and work up from there. If you're successful we expect you to give a workshop on fundraising techniques ;)

Really nice colors. Huge fov too. You'd want to try that one at much longer FL. Some really interesting details in that DSO.

Thanks, Marc! I'd love to grab this one at a few metres FL, especially on a few nights of good SRO seeing. Maybe next year with a bigger scope

I know I will be successful, just my fundraising techniques take time...

Nice one Rick. Not quite up to the standard of Rob Gendler's recent shot but not too far away. The colour is beautiful.

Yum. The area is very reminiscent of the similar bit in Corona Australis, what with thick dust and reflection nebulosity and HH's. We can see one for sure in your shot. The needle-like shock front toward top right is very sharp.

Thanks, M&T! There's at least two Herbig-Haro objects (103 and 105.) I hope to dig around and do a little annotated map when I get a chance.

Gorgeous image Rick - everything about it is appealing.
Agree with Louie - might be worth digging around at even higher resolution at some stage (as planned) - the area looks very interesting.

Nice sparkly image Rick. I like the intricate detail in the central nebula and the faint wispy bits on its edges.

Thanks Marcus & Geoff. With some temporal distance I'm less happy with it. Perhaps a repro one of these days...

Wow, what an excellent image. I don't think I'll ever have the patience for 50 hours though.

Thanks, Kevin. The system at SRO is fully automated so it doesn't take much patience at all. The data just rolls in via Google Drive every day
