I am just wondering what the difference is between the Losmandy old Maxon motors and the new High Toque ones

I don't know what the old motors were like for noise, but the new ones can make a good job of waking the dead especially if used at high speed.

mmm Thats interesting Chris I find the Maxon motors quiet I was thinking of upgrading but if they are noisier I may not I was under the impression that they might have a lot more grunt

Would you know of a comparison between these motors and the Meade LX200 slewing? I stopped using it at my house in the burbs because I didn't want to wake the neighbours!

well I reckon the Maxon standard Motors are quitter thank my old LX200r 10"

No, I don't know.
It's really at high speed that they're very noisy. I just dropped the slew rate down (it's easy to adjust) and it's ok then.

I have a Maxxon on the Dec axis and a High Torque on the RA and don't find the noise a problem. Unless you are ramping up the payload, I'm not sure there will be much benefit in replacing the Maxxon with a HT.

You want to hear noisy motors, the old LXD55 sounded like a turbocharged car at full tilt, absolutely deafening..:rolleyes:
