Hi to all
Sh 2-71 is a complex planetary nebula in Aquila that I haven't come across before. I had problems with gradients and of course the weather. This part of the sky isn't all that great for me because you are starting to pick up more of the Canberra light pollution. I think the STXL6303 would have been a better camera to use for this one too.
Cheers

That's an awesome capture of a very interesting planetary Steve!
Very well done.

Nice one Steve.
I tried this one last year - but nowhere near enough exposure time. I might try it again sometime - your image is excellent. It's a very nice looking PN and not often imaged.
Tony.

Thanks Tony. I think the reason it isn't often imaged is that there are several other nice planetaries in Aquila, NGC6781 for example.
Thanks Tim
Thanks Rick. Neither had I. I was just looking for something different and came across it. It's mentioned in the second edition of Hartung.

Thanks Colin. It's actually not all that little for a planetary.
Good grief Mike - where do you get these names from? I can see the resemblance though. Thanks for the comments. Actually if you changed your mind about imaging it you could probably incorporate a good bit of the adjacent nebulosity Sh 2-72 with your wider field.

What? You're branching out from the tiny objects ;)

I have been known to image a few big things from time to time but there certainly have been a lot of planetaries. I still won't touch anything smaller than about 40" though.

A good imagination...:P
Actually, with my SX H694 on the AG12 I only have about 38' X 32' so close to yours really :)

I've always thought of this one in Aquila as being the number 3.
Super good image.

Thanks M&T. I must admit I can't see the number 3 though.

I call this nebula the Question Mark nebula when I had an abbreviated go at it last year.
There's another interpretation for you. :)
Good to see a completed one though - looks good.

Thanks Louie. I still think it would have been better with the 6303 though.
Thanks Chris. Can't see a question mark either.
