Women find it hard enough to be taken seriously in amateur astronomy.
I've been ignored in telescope shops, told I'm just a "groupie" when attending serious conferences, told my work is only published because I'm female (well, sometimes, being featured in an article on women in amateur astronomy was done because I'm female)
I don't think us wandering around the field just wearing paint and pasties would give us the sort of recognition we're looking for. :) Especially given that I'm in my mid 50's and old enough to be a granny.

I had expected that you might point out that your youthful good looks had somewhat faded; it's happened to me too. I also thought you might point out that you would freeze your butt off; to which I was going to suggest having a freezer suite painted on. But I hadn't expect the 'groupie' angle. Really?!
