The evening highlight of six days back country skiing in NSW was the planetary alignment in the evening sky. I had only a compact Canon G1X Mark II with me and it took a few nights to get the weather and scenery to cooperate but after an hour of traipsing around and lying down in the snow and wind I managed to capture this shot on our last night out.

From bottom Venus, Mercury, Jupiter. Canon Powershot G1X Mark II, Panorama 2 x 10 secs, f3.5, ISO400. Image captured from near the Schlink 'Hilton' Hut in the NSW alpine region, looking over the distant Grey Mare Range.

More info on the blog, especially if you want to read about ski touring :-)

And it's been featured on spaceweather.com (http://spaceweather.com/) today too..

Thanks for looking and the comments Greg, Morton, Colin, Derek. My next holiday I think needs to be a more relaxing one at the beach!

Sounds like a great tour Phil. Beautiful pic. The cold gets into my bones too much for snow camping these days. I love the Grey Mare and the Jagungal areas .

Thanks Matt and Pete. I don't mind the cold but I'm not built for carrying heavy packs. I need a sherpa!
