I'd have some quibbles about the noise, but everything else is top-shelf.

In fact , browsing through your Flickr pages, there is an exemplary body of work there.

Impressive stuff indeed! ....and no clique following here...just nice to see some fine imagery with a minimum of fuss :thumbsup:

Thanks for the honest comment Peter. Noise and JPEGs are fine friends. Somehow together, they tip things in the wrong direction. I believe they are in league with that Murphy guy.

Yaaaay, Terry did an image yaaay

Nice work mate, looks pretty good

While they don't look that bad, those halos around the stars?..is that use of Star Shrink causing that or a desaturation effect?

Looks like you posted this to Flickr a week ago..? missed it

Good eye Mike. It's a desaturation effect in the SII channel. I was surprised at the amount of signal in that channel. Kind of overwhelming really.

Lovely Terry.

My old R200SS or VC200L perchance?

A wonderful image Terry.

I know its not the subject of the image but I really like the luminosity of those bright stars. It really adds some life to the image.

Greg.

Thanks Lewis. It's a different scope. It's a 10 inch instrument. I still have the VC200L.

Cool, thanks Greg. I like to think of it as a nebula surrounding a dramatic looking group of stars.:D I really couldn't knock down the luminosity as you noted. It adds a bit of punch. Thanks for commenting on that.

I really like this one Terry.
A very pleasing narrow band 'colour' rendition. Not overcooked - just right..
Great resolution too... got to love that loooong FL!

Cheers

Beautiful work, Terry. Love the contrast, nice colour. Surprised that 24hrs of data didn't clean the noise up a bit better though.

Nicely done Terry. The palette isn't to my taste but the resolution is excellent.

Cheers

Yes, colour palettes and narrowband are indeed a huge potential gamut.

The hidden variable I have would be the recent introduction of LED street lights. I just can't seem to filter that stuff out. I need min of 40 percent more subs just to get near what I could two years ago. There is just random speckle across the image. Very hard to combat.

I guess it's a preference, but I would rather see a bit of noise than to artificially smooth out the image at the expense of losing of all the small details and stars. Not a fan of the plastic look. Again, it's all preferences and pretty pictures.
