We need suggestions for our vacation

My wife and I are from Kanab, Utah USA. We will be in Australia for the Ford Model T National Rally (http://mtfvic2016.org.au/wordpress/) in Warragul. The Rally ends October 2. 2016. Presently our schedule is open from October 2 to October 8. Besides Model Ts, Astronomy is our major hobby.

We are looking for a Star Party, recommendations for places to stay that are astronomy oriented, or any other suggestions people may have. We have never seen the southern sky.

The Latrobe Valley Astronomical Society is based in Yallourn approx 1hour 20mins drive from Warragul.
