You ring up and speak to a machine that puts you thru to another machine.
I know it must be me but I spent 4 hours getting the runaround press x y or z.
Finally spoke to a human that I had hunted for hours who happily fixed my issue under one minute.
Is it me or has this stuff got outta hand.

Gee Alex get with the program, no one uses phones anymore its all internet and email now.
Seriously though, I know how you feel, trying to get someone at Centrelink to answer their phone when their website continually crashes.
Cheers

They have it also you say?
I had my problems with a phone company and I would think it costs from lossing angry customers.
I called the hospital...Emergency press one.
I thought personal contact up front would be good for a hospital.

In a recession everyone is trying to save money, like when shopping at the Woolies, they have 16 checkout aisles but only one is manned. They want you to checkout yourself which I refuse to do.

Does recession cause cost cutting or the latter cause the former?

Probably recession follows periods of inefficient growth and prices going up to pay for the add itions to budget...
Recession forces review.
My approach to business was to answer the phone so I could speak to a customer.
My frustration was the difficulty to get a human....I was ready to change to another company.
Anyways A1 is the future they just need a easy redirect to a human.

;) Alex , I find hitting the hash key every time the stupid machine asks you to press 1 , 2 ,3 or4 will get you almost straight to a real person .

Yeah... If enough of us walk straight through and go to the "service desk", they may get the message... ;)
I find it quite cute that we have one of Woolies few remaining customers right here on IIS ;)
