 0630hrs. Burpengary north of Brissie.
Full cloud towards East. Never mind, downstairs, get out my 90mm refractor, set up in garden.
Looking black, absolutely no shadows to line up on sun which is completely invisible.
In for brekky. Out 0645. Still black. Spots of rain
Decide to give it a miss:mad2: :mad2:
Decide to go to work on train as I need the money.
Dash up to Station. Light drizzle.
Get on train and sit on east side of carriage as no sun.
Fall asleep
5 minutes later, I feel a hot feeling on the side of my face:scared:
Wake up, look out of window.... OH NO ARRGH ARRGGHH
The Sun's out............:mad2: :mad2:
I should have perserveered. Hope you guys are more successful!! Good pic from WA!!

While the contrast is nice through Baader solar film, and that's all I had for the Venus transit, I had a much more emotional response viewing Mercury through the PST. The Sun appears as a massive seething cauldron with licks of flame at the limb, with the scale provided by the tiny black dot representing an entire planet. Very cool. It's all in the perception.

Is anyone having good weather over there? After my last flipant reply huey above sent in one cloud bank just where the sun is just to say dont get cocky!!! Panic:eyepop: However he has let me off and here are a couple more. The full disk shot has a Meade series 4000 No 12 yellow, I think. I am partially color blind so I am never quite sure what I'm looking at.

Well Huey was kind. Here are three of my final pics of Mercury in transit. It may have been small but I would not have missed it for the world. Weak pun I know:rofl: I feel particully fortunate to clicked the final moments even though they are fuzzy. Now what do I do with the rest of my day off:whistle:

Good to see some results from the west Wade, they're good images. I did manage to get images through both telescopes one with ASWA's Halpha filter and one with just my Baader solar film (webcam & 350d respectively) but haven't processed any yet... I didn't take the day off work so had to shut up the observatory in a hurry then rush off to work before the boss noticed I was missing :-) Perhaps I'll have some pic's processed tonight.
Roger.
