After seeing Paul's great version of M16 I thought I would go back and see if I could improve mine which I did last year. The stars are far from perfect but I was pretty happy with how the pillars turned out.

Cheers

Steve

Pretty pillars Steve, with some nice fine detail  that's about as good as it gets for us in OZ, sooo just need to move to 8000ft up in the Atacama/Andes now and you are away :D...I'll come too

Thanks Mike. Visit to Atacama? Sounds good except that on my last visit to South America in 1994 I spent a lot of time on the toilet.

Beautifully detailed Steve! All of the stars look like they have an aspect of about 0.3 (not at all round) but as I am laying in bed with my iPhone and not wearing my glasses I can say with an almost certainty that it's just my eyes playing tricks on me :P

Largely indistinguishable from my image Steve. Two good images of this target to be seen. I think your image is slightly smoother than mine. Scale appears to be very similar. Is this with the 11002 or the 6303? Yours could do with some RGB stars though.

Thanks Paul. It's with the 6303 as the caption says. I do have some RGB data but it's not very good. I was planning to get a bit more with the 1002 but I've had very few opportunities given the weather. Also considering a starless version as the main interest is the pillars after all.

Thanks M&T!

Thanks Colin. Yes the stars are slightly out of round no doubt due to my star size reduction efforts. I'll look into that.

That's really good. Those stars are so tiny. Impressive at that focal length.:thumbsup::thumbsup:
