Almost everyone has a go at imaging the Trifid nebula, which is composed of 3 different type of nebulae; emission, reflection, and absorption. When I noticed some very faint red glow in the background, I decided to try integrating some long hydrogen emission line frames to see if I could get any structure out of it. I'm quite happy with the resulting background structure.

Looks real nice Adam. I do agree, there is some fascinating nebulae structure in the background.

Nice work! Those 20hrs really brought out that background nebulosity very well indeed.

Nicely done indeed! You don't often see such detail in the background structure of the Trifid.

Your experiment worked magnificently!

The faint background stuff has a very interesting texture, like the cut surface of a lung perhaps.

You picked up the background very well Adam. I found it easier to pick this up with the wide field setup than the long focal length setup.

For me 900 is wide ;). My other focal lengths are 1960 and 2800!
