I am putting together a narrowband image of the Eagle and this is what I have so far for Ha. I only took 4 out of about 13 subs as the first night seemed to be more mon affected and these not at all. I plan on taking some more exposure time for this over the next few nights (supposed to be clear). But its amazing how quickly the scope and camera get a decent image out on these brighter objects.

I used 20 minute subs and dithering to reduce noise.
I also used -35C and the low noise option on the FLI camera. All done now in the SkyX. Its pretty clean considering no noise reduction and only 80 minutes of exposure. The joys of F3.8 305mm aperture imaging. In fact the O111 subs were all badly burnt out at 20 minutes and 2x2 binning (they are in fact going into the bin :)).
which is convenient which is now quite mature. I was pleased about the dithering as it got rid of the column defects well and there were no little black specks in the background that I usually have to Photoshop out. Not sure what causes those specks, I only see them in Ha images.

Cheers Scott. Its clear as forecast so I will probably get enough data to do a finished image tonight and possibly tomorrow night.

That is really nice and smooth Greg! I personally feel that the field looks better rotated 180° though :) Given your aperture I was expecting to see a bit more of the gassious "flare" at the top of the Pillars, possibly just needs more exposure for them to stand out a bit more. As you say, 80 minutes is really limited :)

A great start, Greg, and a nice big FOV. Should be a cracker.

I'll see how it goes with more exposure Colin but I already have some sharp CDK "pillars" I can blend in if I need it.

Thanks Rick. It looks like it will be clear all week so plenty of time to pick up data.

Thanks Mike. I got more Ha last night but the imaging run was cut short by a rogue shower cloud. I woke up and it was raining so I raced out and closed everything up. By the time I finished that it was clear again!

Also I got my new toy today so I'll be playing with that.

Looks good Greg, I look forward to seeing the results. The field of view is larger than mine on the STXL and no doubt less noisy too.

A good start Greg. There's good detail in there, and the extra exposure, if it's as good as this data, should make for a pleasing and successful image.
As it stands, it's already a success.

Thanks Steve. I have collected some data. I'll just have to see if I have enough. I got another camera that has interrupted things but I want to complete what I started.

Thanks Paul. The 16803 is very wide. 60% QE peak is quite respectable. FLI cameras are always very low noise but I don't know how it compares to an STXL.

Thanks Trev. I should have a finished image within 2 weeks.
