first night imaging last night since feb.

i had planned in my head to image some of the bright big names, m8, m20, m16 etc (i have some catching to do to make my 12/13 images a year for next years' family 2017 calendar.

go to set up and what would you know, the Earth's moon beaming in gibbous fashion smack bang in the middle of scorpius. ehhh there goes that plan, i cant really image north, east or south. so was pretty stuck for NB targets.

ended up nabbing some bicolour data on ngc 6188, although my Oiii was compromised from dew (and moonlight) but beggars can't be choosers.

anyway here it is in multi versions. my new tv i think is way too low on red, when i did this M16 recently it looks almost salmon but on my phone it is neon as - so not sure how these will turn out yet. i will need to look into calibrating the tv somehow.

clear skies

- also added a panel for a wider field for no reason whatsoever.

Ha ha Rusty, nice persistence under the Moon

I had the same dilemma on Fri night myself ...with so much moon I generally try to stay 45deg from it for NB...buuut nothing worth imaging really ...so I didn't bother  ...during the week should be ok..if the weather holds.

It is a nice collection you have there Russell :) Moon is in such a bad possy at the moment.
I cannot be blamed for the weather just yet, my new mount hopefully arriving soon, Cris told me it should be leaving Austria in maybe a week or two. So in a month you can hate me for the rain over the next full moon :P

Hi Rusty,

Thumbnail 2 is magnificent. Sharp and detailed and we really love the colour.

The bit that we call the Rocking Horse (and Mike S identifies as the ears of a Border Collie), just slightly below left of centre, looks especially clear.

In thumbnail 1 it's hard to see 6188 because there is a big red raptor in the way. Very sharp beak, too.

Moon: We stared at a crystal clear sky last night, wanting to do some short subs of M8, but the moon was coming straight down the barrel, so it was movies and puzzles by firelight. You did very well.

Been missing your images. Glad you're back in the saddle.

Best,
M & T

Nice group of images Rusty. The moon is frustrating the heck out of me too and just as it starts to wane the weather is turning bad too.

Cheers

indeed, Saturn neb was nearly doable but i had had it with dew by then! (the weather lasted 18hrs down here, hopefully new moon brings some clear skies

that is pretty exciting news Col, you have timed it well for full moon though so i can't go too hard on you

haha thanks for the comments M&T  hmm i see both a rocking horse and border collies ears, my initial reaction was ears, but then could see that you were probably would have the rocking horse head on the left side with that star for its eye.

fingers crossed the weather clears up and for a few consecutive nights and i'll do my best to make up for the lack of images

cheers steve, lets hope it clears up after this week

thanks Rick - i'll take what i can get at the moment!

I reckon I like the first of the 6188 the best. I like those sort of colours and tones. The Eagle has good detail too.
