This image was basically a test of my STXL11002 which has just returned from repairs in the US. Given the moon only Ha is possible at the moment but hopefully I'll turn this into some sort of colour image eventually.
The seeing was about 50% good and 50% bad.
Cheers
Steve

I really like the 3D look to your processing Steve and the detail is very good. I just wonder if you have used deconvolution as the stars have odd halos around them. Other than that the image looks very interesting and I am looking forward to seeing your final results. Are you using the AOX for guiding?

Thanks Paul. Yes I did use a bit of deconvolution but not very much. What probably contributed to the halo was a touch of starshrink. Perhaps not a good idea. I did use the AOX.

Thanks guys. The next battle is the colour.
...colour, of course.
but - looking at your image I realize how overwhelming and distracting colour versions of nebula are to me. I feel as if I can discern more details in b/w :)

Oh yes!:thumbsup:...I think you are onto something here.
Very smooth, superb resolution and excellent framing.
Well executed h-alpha simply doesn't need colour...which is not to say you shouldn't add it....just don't bugger up the highlight and shadow so beautifully on display here.
Nice one

Thanks Peter. Yes you are quite correct. Colour is hardly needed for the lagoon as it reacts so well to Ha. Anyway I'm going to try for the colour weather permitting so we'll see what happens.
Thanks. Some imagers only use Hydrogen Alpha because of the nice b/w detail you get with emission nebulae. I'm still going to go for colour though.
