Mirror materials

The last time I made a mirror was 30 years ago when you could buy kits from places like Astro-Optical. I'd like to get back into it, but not sure about a good source of materials. Any advice?

I you're only out to do a 6 or 8" mirror any good glazier that cuts tabletops should be able to cut and edge a 19mm thick plate glass blank for you for under $50, which is fine for a first mirror.
