Images of prominence taken in Hydrogen alpha 17 minutes apart, during a rare break in clouds. Coronado Solarmax 60-mm telescope.

Thanks for your comment Gus. Considering the conditions, I too, was surprised at the detail. These images are 2 of 25 that I managed to capture at 1 minute intervals. (Avi's of 500 frames in each case) My resulting "movie" shows little structural change over this time. From measurement of the image, the prominence is about 85,000 km high. A faster moving "magnetic loop" prominence would be a better movie challenge. Regards Arthur

Nice shots Arthur, Glad you got some viewing in - been far too cloudy/wet up here for any observing. Can't even see Sun at moment. Regards, John W.

Very nice images. Cool to see how the prominence changes on a time scale of a few minutes. Thanks for sharing :)

Thank you Oernulfs and Phil for your recent comments. It has been so cloudy in Melbourne it is becoming a problem to find the Sun, let alone do some imaging. Regards, Arthur
