 Thanks guys ...but really and I know many think it is a great thing but in all honesty I recon APOD is kind of a little overrated   Sure, some really cool and interesting stuff gets showcased but it's kind of a lucky dip, lots of great, even spectacular images, get overlooked and more than a few rather ordinary images get selected :screwy:, kinda crazy really  :)...but still, always nice to see an image you have worked hard to capture and present, get noticed in all the pickings on offer and displayed on any forum... particularly such a large platform like APOD

Totally agree but this one is well worth the acccolade. Well done.
I agree 100 percent with Mike’s comments. It’s a little overrated. There are many quirky images shown that are interesting, but lacking in most aspects other than it’s just an interesting image. There are many incredible images that get passed over. It’s a vehicle to convey interest to the public.
It’s always great to see an image that someone has spent so much time on to be seen by so many people.
Congratulation on having your work presented Mike.:thumbsup:

...I'm a sadist :evil2:
Nah seriously, I love APOD and look at it most days and I'm chuffed they picked one of my submissions to show the World, its great. APOD showcases some amazing shots and really interesting features most days, it's just not some shining glory to define ones ability by, that's all

I'm unaware of anyone "defining their ability" with an APOD here on this forum.
However, like many others, when our hard work is chosen to be shared with a worldwide audience, I believe that's due cause for quiet enjoyment.
Regardless of one's own opinion of other selections, IMO APOD's are rare, aspirational special occasions worthy of being celebrated here - so well done! :)

Whichever way you look at it the image is sweet, took time to produce, worthy of recognition & is shared with the masses & may encourage others into look up - well done big fella!

Well, there are certainly a few that love to gloat and indulge in self-promotion. :screwy: That activity should provide you with an incredible amount of fuel for your calm bake. ;)
Very well deserved recognition Mike.

Well, I guess there is a fine line between publically "gloating" (a negative term) and "just wanting to share something cool that has happened to you with like minded people" (something positive). Now, where exactly that fine line is drawn is probably quite different for different people  .
I recall a thread that started here on IIS after the David Malin "you have been invited to Parks" emails had been sent out after the judging had been completed that year, where a number of participants in that thread started to boast about the total number of DM awards each had won over the years and even that they were essentially tired of just getting "honourable mentions". Now...I thought that was probably a good full step over that huberistic boasting fine line and didn't show much respect for the many individuals who would have been reading that thread who had never won anything..?
Thanks, I got an APOD, I got an APOD, I got....?.....sorry :face:
