I bought the mount new from Telescopes and Astronomy and the mount has only been test run for less than two hours as the only spot I can polar align from my home doesn't allow me to see any more of the sky (trees in the way) and I keep finding excuses not to pack it into my ute to travel to where I can use it.


As I'm in the grip of geriatrica and wondering how much longer I can handle the weight, I've decided to cut my losses and get something more manageable.


I have the original packing and I am prepared to ship at your cost.

This is the older model is that right?

I don't know whether I'd describe it as the 'older' model, rather the model that was offered until recently without the stepper motors and GoTo.

I did a lot of research before I bought it and it is my understanding that the 'older' models shipped with grey gunky grease on the cogs whereas this one had almost clear grease.

With the upgrade to GoTo with the current version of SynScan V4 motor and controller kit I believe it to be comparable with the current NEQ6 model.

It is one of the original HEQ6 from back in the days when the HEQ6-Pro was the White GoTo version. (Black HEQ6 was non-GoTo)
As the poster has mentioned, it has been upgraded with the GoTo which makes it comparable with a current NEQ6 as the internals and electronics have not changed in a decade or so.

I could be wrong Colin, I have been before, but it is my belief that the 'H' in the model # only applied to the EQ5 series and the model I have was referred to as either the EQ6 or NEQ6.

I also seem to recall reading somewhere that at one stage the NEQ6's shipped to the USA were actually black. :shrug:

PS: This is also listed on flebay and I just did a quote to ship to Mackay, Qld for $96.00 per Pack and Send, mentioned to give an indication of freight cost.

I could very well be wrong! Remembering back near a decade :) Either way, if you have done a GoTo upgrade on this the only difference between this and a NEQ6 will be the puck on top as they have changed that in recent years. Mechanically the same though until you get to the AZ and GT models.
