Corona Australis, A classic Southern object repro

A classic winter object. One of the more beautiful reflection nebulas/dust areas in the Southern sky.

I will add exposure time to this for sure but it came out pretty well already with minimal exposure time. Noise was remarkably low. I now run my Proline on the lower noise setting which has slower downloads (not really that long) but cleaner read noise from 12 down to 8 electrons. Its noticeable when processing.

Its a nice area Greg and well framed. Must be really dusty in parts of that lower right region, its just... Black!

What is the download time difference between the fast and slow setting on your Proline?

Long enough exposure will make that dust more brown with crimson areas.

Fast download of a 1x1 binned image is around 1 second and at the slower speed about 16 seconds. Its listed on the FLI site.

Usually the glob looks compressed but you've done a great job with it, Greg. Also fantastic work on all the bright components. Some more data to bring out the dusty stuff and it will be a killer image :thumbsup:

Thanks Mike. The Glob can be tricky as its easy to overexpose it.

I know from experience that the glob can be damaged in processing really easily.

Very sharp with deep, smooth detail.

Nice colours and well composed.

Thanks very much Ross. Yes I like it as it is as well. Not every image turns out to be worth extra effort but I think this one does.
I was also thinking of a mosaic as a possibility too.

Considering this was imaged from the outer burbs, not bad Greg, not bad...I guess you just need ..?...more exposure :whistle: Ok.. Who said that? :mad2: :scared3:

But a clean looking image for sure, with lovely colour, the glob looks lovely and I like the framing too :thumbsup:

Nice one Greg - great detail but it's too dark IMO. You appear to have enough data to reveal the brown dust quite well - I tried it and it looks great!

Thanks Marcus. I looked at it again and yes you are right it was able to be made more luminous. The data was cleaner than I'm used to!

Thanks George. Its a great area and very photogenic so I will definitely be putting more effort into this one. Probably 3X as much exposure should lift it nicely. Its pretty clean already considering the short exposure time.
