Hi All

For me to have purchased a super wedge for the 12" LX 200 it was going to be $995.00 from Bintel :eyepop:

Bugger that i thought, so i built this, which will do the job nicely.

Half inch plate steel, with 3/4 Inch adjustable threaded supports, with a 4" diameter 10mm steell washer and 3/4 inch bolt to secure it to the base plate.

Also the excact location of the telescope base threaded bolt holes are are drilled to accept the bolts for securing the telescope to the wedge.

The top hole has been cut to a vee shape so the top blot can be frist attached to the base of the scope and slid down to aligin with the remaining two base bolt holes.

It has plenty of adjustment in both RA and Dec, weight approx 15 kilograms

Total $50,00 Bucks.

If you know people in the machining trades, you can get something like this made up, which a good family friend made for me.

Nice work Leon, once adjusted, the only functional difference between yours and the genuine meade item is that yours will probably be more solid and less prone to flex.

Well built Leon, it looks very sturdy and effective, I have been trying to save up enough cash to buy a Ultra wedge for my 12" which is at the $995 mark as well, but just cant seem to get there. I think that this could be a serious and more obtainable path to go along.

cheers

Thanks Guys for your coments, well i look at it this way, if it works ok well and good, if it's not quite up to the task well, i'll fix it, nothing lost.
But i'm sure it will do the job nicely, i'll be fitting it when i get back from Vic South.
Oh, i forgot, after Vic South, and Snake Valley, when i recover from both of them.

Cheers leon
