Well I am a bit happier with how this one has turned out, managed to tame some of the bigger star glows with yes... white glows :) White is however much nicer looking than IN YOUR FACE PURPLE HALOS :lol: Only figured out how to do it on the brighter stars so far, going to have to do a lot more fiddling to get the medium brightness ones, the faint ones are good enough though for my liking.
Stills needs a lot more data to help smooth things out. When more data arrives it'll be worth while doing a drizzle version. With this weather however I just got tired of having all that data sitting there not being used :P

Hi, Colin,
What caught my eye was the intricate honeycomb structures near the bottom left corner. I've not seen that before, perhaps because there aren't so many SHO images at this image scale.

I'd never seen any of that myself either, never imaged the area before. Most of the images that I have seen have either been longer focal length focuser on M20 itself or really wide fields that encompass M8 as well.
I need to put in another few nights on this region (I've used pretty heavy noise reduction so far) but I may check out that bottom corner further and see what shows up.
May even check up on the Aladin Sky Atlas :)

Some bold colours there, Colin! The detail is good too with the larger HH jet quite visible. Look forward to what you can do with more data.

I do like heavy handed saturation in narrowband :P
Thanks Marc, have an average FWHM of 1.8" at the moment so I do need to drizzle it to keep away from the square stars :P

Yeah, I'm with MBJ on this one, those filaments look great and although I have seen them before I didn't realise just how close they got to the bright pussy's face area there on the lower left.
I recon if you were able to compose an RGB hybrid using this data it could look awesome.

Well, this a rather Unique capturing Colin, Narrow Band, I know nothing, but now learn that the filaments on the low left have showed up surprisingly by other replies - could be onto something ? ?
I Like the neb throughout the view, some grouse billowing effects showing in the heart of the triffid as well.

There was a wide field on here a couple of days ago that showed the filaments in relation to both M20 and M8, found it quite interesting. Need to get a lot more data for both noise control and to be have to get a good drizzle to better resolve them. Clear skies coming on Sunday and Monday I hope :)
I have been playing with trying to create some synthetic RGB stars, having a lot more luck with this than my M8 image which mostly just ends up white or horrible.
I didn't know that there was much in the area around M20 until the first Ha subs started coming in. Having mostly seen RGB myself previously I hadn't noticed them. When my new mount arrives I may try to do some deep imaging of them to see what pops up when I can get the read noise out of the way. It is an interesting target, more than I was expecting when I started on it.
Thanks Ross, hoping that when some more data comes in for it I'll be able to smooth it out more with less noise reduction.

Still haven't quite managed to get any reasonable looking synthetic RGB stars into the image but I have at least made the smaller ones less intrusive and the bigger ones more natural looking (didn't white them out this time).
