Tried a little experiment with the wheel barrow at my dark site. Each of those blocks is 20kg + another 6+kg of bricks and about 10kg of sandstone rocks. Took the pic at 11:00am. The ice gave at 11:30. Over an inch thick... Not bad for June 3rd

It's a dark sky site because even the light is too scared to go outside in those temperatures :P

Oh, believe me, when the seeing is good... Mumma!, its worth it. An inversion layer forms in the valley below and blocks out the tiny bit of light I get from New Norfolk. Dark as I've ever seen it. ;)

As an aside comment, the reason the ice can support so much weight is because it is contained by the wheel barrow, and the water underneath has no where to go. If you drain the water underneath by drilling a hole in the wheel barrow, the ice would probably break under the weight of the first or second block. This is why ice roads can be made on frozen lakes in Canada, the water supports the ice.
