Hi again everyone.
A few nights ago I managed to do some imaging after moon set (2 nights) with about a hour or so of dark sky before twilight starts. Seeing was fairly good and the sky very clear.
This picture consists of 22x4 min at iso 1600 with my 6" newtonian f5.6.
I don`t usually use iso 1600 but I thought I would give it a go and see how much noise there would be with many exposures. There was still plenty of noise and it took some processing in PS to get most of it out.
Picture has had quiet a go (about 1hrs worth) to get it looking the way it does now in PS. I won`t be doing to many other iso 1600 shots and shall stick to my favorite speed of 800 iso.
Quiet happy with the final picture. Will do a 800 iso as soon as theres a new moon and no cloud..
Cheers Gary

That is great!

Although it could do with a 90-degree rotation:D

Thanks Ric, Matt and Louie,
I find the horsehead region rather difficult to process and color balance. I have seen it from light pink to red/orange to purple..I like the light pink/red look to it. Just seems more natural to me that color..
Cheers Gary

I think it looks great as is Gary,

Did you apply some star reduction as the stars look really tight.

Really well done Gary.

Gary,

That is simply magnificent.

You've managed to portray this glorious region in a way which gives it a surreal and ethereal persona.

Beautiful.

Humayun

Thanks Tony, Phil, Tornado33, Houghy and Humayun for your kind comments. Tony,
I did a run with Noels actions for star reduction and used his noise reduction action as well, tightened up the stars a little, I had the focus nearly spot on too which helps alot!!!
Quiet pleased with the shot Houghy, I just lost the finer details by going with the 1600 iso..I shall give it a good go at 800 iso when we get those nice dark clear nights (fingers crossed)..maybe I can get my peltier cooler mod up and running by then too!!!
Cheers Gary

Couldn't help myself.

Here tiz ... rotated!:D

Super cool shot. I like the extra space above the HH...to allow room to get that star in the image
