View Full Version here: : 'Like' button for IIS?

Just wondering out loud here. This may not even be technically possible, but how's about a 'like' button for posts on IIS so people can appreciate a post without feeling that they have to actually have something specific to say about it.

People who want to comment on something specific are still going to comment, but it allows others to show support without wondering 'do I add to this long thread with another (possibly) banal 'Hey, Nice Work!'. comment. There is so much good work on here that I'd spend all day writing 'Wow, nice images', so I don't do it nearly as often as it's deserved because I have nothing to add.

I've seen 'Rate this thread' but it's not quite the same thing.

Thoughts?

I have mixed feelings about this and have thought about it. On the balance I feel it's better not to have like/dislike/etc options without posting something on the thread.

It's almost exclusively on the imaging forums where this is relevant, and there I often see something that I wish there was an emoti-/reacti-con for because I have nothing to contribute other than "wow, great job" or "well done". But until we regularly start getting dozens of "well done"s per thread, I think it's better the way it is.

Having a like button would mean a lot fewer responses to threads. Not having it and being kind of forced to think for a moment in order to say something about the OP/image (eg why you like it if you do) is a good thing IMHO.
