G'day Folks,

Just noticed Comet C/2013 X1 Panstarrs is here for those not blanketed by cloud.
This link is my favourite site for info and star maps.

Note authors comment on comet page:-
Quote " On the evening of June 4, the comet makes a spectacular conjunction with the Helix nebula. Astrophotographers take note." Unquote.

I am not an imager but do hope the clouds and rain clear so I can get another comet catch on my visual list.

Well I was pretty choofed last night as I got my first opportunity to view this comet in my 10" dob.
Used the charts as per my previous post and SkySafari Pro 5.

Very easily visible with 32 and 26 mm plossl's and avert vision in my old 7x50 bino's.

Currently sitting in Telescopium.

Congrats Steve!

I too bagged this one for the first time last night (also in a 10" dob).

Did you find the viewing better in the 32mm or 16mm EP?

A 20mm plossl was the best balance between mag and contrast for me...

Apologies Ben and others.
I just edited my post. The EP was 26 mm not 16, hence there was not that much difference between the 2 EP's, particularly as it was a faint but very discernible object.
Well worth the view in my opinion. Just got to wait for another clear night so I can show Deb who was away on a Guide camp.
