Gum 58

Aahh the pleasure of automation. I finished collecting this data a couple of weeks ago and only had the chance to process out the image a couple of nights ago.

This image is of Gum 58 and the surrounding star and gas field with an FSQ106. Full NB and BB data image. It's not an over impressive object but there are knots of gas and dark dust lanes which make it interesting. The surrounding field has lots of gas which appears in streaks.

I could not find many images of this target on the web. Just a couple of survey images.

Integration is 35.2 hours.

It is a nice shot Paul, 35 hours of data has certainly made it a smooth image of nothing else. Bit surprised there isn't more going on in this area. Stars are perfect ;)

Beautifully clean image. Perhaps not the most photogenic object but its well done.

The Gum nebulas next to the Vela SNR might make a good target.

You a correct Paul in that it quite an interesting object and well worth chasing down. The extra data has produced a top quality image.

Suavi, well you know how it is. I can set and forget and walk away, so 35 hours is sort of like 10 hours really. It's way too much for this object but I can feel ok about that given I am not sitting watching the scope. :)

Rick, yeah its a big scope target for sure. Just wanted to keep the smaller scope doing things. :)
