View Full Version here: : IIS on Laptop
Hi All
Just curious here, i am obviously hooked up to IIS at the moment.
I have just bought a lappy and want to also open IIS on that at times, but i keeps telling me that i need my password, (which by the way i have no idea what it is)
We have three computers in this room, one is for my wife, who has the broadband internet connection, connected to hers, mine comes of the router connected to hers and works fine, now the lappy is also connected to the router, and works fine for all internet access.
The only place i cant go is here, to IIS, without opening a new account.
Am i doing something wrong here, any suggestions welcomed.
Cheers Leon

Hi Leon
I use the same UserName and Password for IIS regardless of which computer I am on; the desktop PC, the Notebook PC, my wife's PC or the work PC.
It sounds as if on your main PC, you selected "Remember Me" to remember your UserName and Password for that PC so every time you visit IIS, "Remember Me" automatically logs you on. Your Username is “Leon” and you will need to either remember your current password (that "Remember Me" auto fills on your behalf) or create a new one.

EDIT: Replaced "Windows" with the correct funtion "Remember Me" (thanks Terry!)
If you login and have "Remember Me" selected, you shouldn't have to login again. I browse IceInSpace from a few computers and don't have to login.
Selecting "Remember Me" sets a cookie on your computer. So if it's not saving the cookie, you'll have to login every time you visit. Have a look to see if your browser hasn't disabled saving cookies.
If you forgot your password, you need to either reset it here (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/login.php?do=lostpw) or PM me and I'll change your password for you manually. We can't tell you what your current password is, we can only change it to something else.
thanks for the info guys, i'll work on shortly

G'Day
I have had the same problem since I joined the group, I have cookies set to "ask me" and even after accepting the cookie I still have to type my password in, "nightsky" is there when I double click the user name blank space, but never the password, yet in all other web pages that I visit often I just double click the user name space and my user name and password shows up.
Hi Night Sky, i got around it eventually, buy re-registering on the lappy, and applying the new password to both computers when asked....it worked ok, to date

Careful if you delete your cookies on your computers Leon. You will have to relog on again. ;)

Right on Paul. This happens to me when I run Norton's Clean Up which purges the PC of internet clutter.

Sounds like you are talking about Internet Options cookies. Mojo was talking about "Remember Me" which is part of the IIS log on procedure when you enter your name and password in top right hand corner.

It's got me buggered then, but all is fine with both my machines now.

G'Day Leon,
No m8 nothing that you suggested has made things worse :) I have had this problem since Mar this year, it's no big deal, besides I only have to type the password in as the user name does show up.

Has never worked for me either. My username comes up but I always have to type in the password. I also click the 'remember me' every time just in case it makes it work. But it doesn't.
No Biggy, I just type my password each time.

Sorry to hear that - I thought it may have been a quick and easy fix. Are your cookies being automatically deleted when you exit IE? I seem to recall seeing a setting once that if you "ticked" would clear cache, cookies, temp files, most recently used docs, etc.
Cheers
