I'm in need of a bit of advice. I have an astro tent that needs a bit of TLC after closing on 10 years of loyal service. Mostly small holes in floor, seams repair, waterproofing, etc... Nothing major but if I don't do anything now it will get worse.

For the seams I need to reglue the plastic(/fabric?) strips that were covering the seams on the inside pf the tent. The outside I guess just seams proofing and then general spray to water proof the fabric. Might also patch a few holes in the floor.

This is the tent here (https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=6930D3AD12D5044C&id=6930D3AD12D5044C%211117&parId=6930D3AD12D5044C%211065&o=OneUp).

Any products/pointers on how to get started, BCF, Rays outdoors, etc... most welcome.

Marc,

We use this (http://www.venusrepairs.com.au/content/camping_equipment_repairs.htm?page= camping+equipment+repairers)place for tent repairs. Cost isn't too bad but they can take a few weeks to get a job done.

They might also sell the sealing tape and waterproofing but you'd also get that from a hiking/bushcraft shop. Near the CBD there is Palin and Kathmandu but there are plenty of others around, BCF would probably also have them. I'd also recommend a can of zipper lubricant.

Try a a pool shop that sells a pool liner repair kit. A thin smear of silicone on the outside of seam joints also helps.
Cheers!

Thanks guys. I'll try the suggestions. I was worried of glues that might dissolve the fabric. I don't want to make anymore holes in it.

There is a rubberized compound call seam sealer for sealing stitched seams in tents. One careful coat will last for many years. If you spray silicone on the seams, the rubber compound won't bond so do one or the other.

Holes in the floor. A google search on "tent floor repair patch" yields lots of links and videos.
