New to use DSLR to shoot moon this weekend - how to

I have a 10 inch DOB, Canon 600D and bought the mount to hook up 600D body to the eye piece 'slot'.

I guess I should set the camera shooting mode to Manual, right? So I can control the shutter speed and ISO.
Do I just detach the lens from the camera and hook that up onto DOB?
Any steps/settings should I worry about before that?

for a 600d you will probably want to go prime focus, but first what type of dob do you have? some struggle to reach focus with a camera. usually you would take the lens attach http://www.bintel.com.au/Astrophotography/Camera-Adapters---T-Rings/Canon-EOS-T-Ring/36/productview.aspx

and then something like http://www.bintel.com.au/Astrophotography/Camera-Adapters---T-Rings/Bintel-Camera-Adapter--2--/35/productview.aspx to attach to the 2" focuser.

I got the SkyWatcher 10in DOB. no goto though.
Yes, I got the EOS-T ring and can screwed into the 2 inch eyepiece hole.

No lens and adapter is prime focus. Yes that will work if you have enough back focus. Try it during the day on a distant object.
Moon is a good starting target. Go manual and low ISO, shutter will be pretty fast with the moon so full. Shoot and review, keep adjusting shutter till you're happy with it. 10x Live view is good for getting focus, I find a start best for that, but moon details will work as well. Good luck

perfect. the SW's can reach focus.

yep for photos most people set to manual, for the moon it is super bright, lower the iso and set the shutter quite fast. make sure you capture in the RAW format.

you can also have a go of using the video mode. the camera can record at 60fps at 720p or at 24fps (or 30fps if you set the format to NTSC) at 1080p. using video will require additional processing but it great, you'll be able to also shoot Jupiter, mars and Saturn this way and get nice results :thumbsup:

Also, I watched a youtube video just 5 minutes ago had to put an eye piece into a T-Ring adapter.
Is an eyepiece necessary?

no, the skywatcher focuser should have a bit where you can remove the 1.25" eyepiece holder (can't remember if you unscrew or uses grub screws) to put the camera in at prime focus.
