Have been experimenting a bit with some data collected over the last few clear nights at home. Something I've always wanted to do, but never had enough time/data/clear nights to play. Mainly to do some narrowband imaging. Anyway... links to larger images below.

First up is a straight LRGB (no narrowband). Was experimenting here with HDR to get the stars not blown out and retain colour. Unfortunately with binned RGB and some of the brighter stars, the infamous KAF8300 bled a bit on some saturated stars and they look a little funky zoomed in. Will have to re-do some of that data if I want to be serious and picky about the image.

Next was a blend of narrowband in HOO mapping with max of Ha and SII mapped to red, 50% of OIII mapped to green, and 50% mapped to blue.

Next was Hubble palette SHO. I think this is my favourite. Strong OIII balanced it out perhaps more than other targets where the green Ha dominates.

And finally, I just had to try Rick's color mask PI script on the green to bump a bit of that golden/brown hue in there. I know this is preferred mod to SHO by some.

nice comparo Troy, yep I too like the blue / gold combos, actually I like them all :) if you are doing a family calendar and are low on shots just alter the palette and invert!

Nice work, I like 'em all, but my favourite two would be the HOO (2nd) and modified SHO (4th).

Cheers guys. Good to have some clear nights. Looking forward to a fruitful winter season.

I still intend to play with blending in RGB stars to the narrowband shots. Was getting halos, so need to refine my star masking technique. The above are narrowband filter stars with magenta removed using my PI pixelmath process icon.
